Family Session Tag Along!

Have you ever wanted to book a photo session but hesitated because of the nagging question:

What if I don't love the photos?

Next come the other worries...What if my kids act completely feral? What if I don't love the outfits we choose? What if I can't even pick 10 favorites out of the whole session? Maybe I should just wait and book a mini session with that one photographer at the pumpkin patch - STOP!

It's ok to need a little hand-holding and encouragement - I'd like to calm your fears by giving you a big sneak peek into what we can create during a full 45 minute session.

Can you already see the variety? You may be used to seeing me share only my favorite or most marketable images on Instagram, but during your session I guarantee we will create a whole album of magic for you to look back on.

How precious are these little ones in front of the pampas grass?!

While, I am always sure to get a few smiling-at-the-camera type shots for Grandmas, my recipe for successful sessions includes a lot of running around, tickles, snuggling, and all-around fun for everyone involved.

My personal mantra for all of my sessions has become,

"Let's make posing feel like play."

Because honestly, posing can be the most daunting part of photos (and not just for you!) The more movement and play we incorporate, the more I see my subjects loosen up and reveal their true smiles and connections. It's a part of my job that feels kind of like magic every time :)

These photos are also the perfect example of why I don't currently recommend or offer mini sessions. Had we only had 10 minutes total, the kids would have been stiff and the sweet little boy would have been screaming in all of them.

Instead we spent 45 minutes exploring the gorgeous scenery of Batiquitos Lagoon Trail, finding a variety of backgrounds and lighting to use. And you know what else - the kids were relaxed, curious, and content the entire time.

Thanks for reading, I hope you're able to put some of these tips to use next time you're gearing up for a family photo session. And if you're in the San Diego area don't hesitate to reach out and say hello!
